[12:12:20] <Peetz0r> So, I just teleported myself and my retro laptop collection to bornhack and I figured out that I want to install `hfsmodem` but it's very hard to do that on modern systems since most documentation about that is 15+ years old
[12:12:24] <Peetz0r> But I know that it should be possible. I found this laptop with a 2019-era debian install on it and it was working there on a then-recent-ish kernel, probably 4.9
[12:16:04] <KitsuWhooa> You're going to need to port the driver
[12:16:46] <KitsuWhooa> it's not a matter of simply installing it. You need to get the code, try to compile it against your kernel, and then fix all the apis/function calls that were removed with whatever they were replaced with
[12:17:18] <KitsuWhooa> it's *really* not worth the effort for crappy softmodems IMO
[12:17:30] <KitsuWhooa> but if you do get it working, my laptop has one too, so I can test it :p
