[02:55:02] <bschnei> gromit: Does it make sense to migrate the notes I started on ARMvX to the issue tracker? https://github.com I would be interested in hearing user stories. What ARM devices might Arch users already own? Are there people willing to try to support v8 or not? I'm not doing any of that research because I've already built all the packages I need for my v8 device. I don't need qt6-webengine
[02:55:02] <bschnei> nor anything that depends on it on a router. But if there folks in the Arch community with a use case for it, I think it'd be nice to make them aware that we already have an issue that we could use help with.
[02:55:03] <phrik> Title: arch_a64/README.md at main 路 bschnei/arch_a64 路 GitHub (at github.com)
[03:00:43] <bschnei> And for transparency, I'm spending my "Arch time" (or "nerdy router time" as my girlfriend prefers to call it), on the points you all raised about needing documentation for how a kernel config came to be. I'm starting over with using the x64 config as olddefconfig and making sure no features are missing/disabled in arm64.

[06:04:24] <nl6720> gromit: https://gitlab.archlinux.org says "Aarch64", but it should be spelt as "AArch64"
[06:04:25] <phrik> Title: Aarch64 路 GitLab (at gitlab.archlinux.org)

[08:29:21] <Solskogen> gromit: can you add me as a member of https://gitlab.archlinux.org ? :-)
[08:29:23] <phrik> Title: Aarch64 路 GitLab (at gitlab.archlinux.org)
[08:58:25] <DrZee> anyone ... is aur.archlinux.org offline?
[08:58:46] <jelle> not offline, but you'll hit ddos protection if using ipv4
[08:59:09] <DrZee> I can not even open it in a browser
[09:00:27] <DrZee> it's not responding... not even wget gets anything
[09:01:28] <jelle> yes, its under a DDoS...
[09:01:35] <jelle> see https://status.archlinux.org
[09:01:36] <phrik> Title: status.archlinux.org (at status.archlinux.org)
[09:03:04] <DrZee> didn't you have ddos protection? it shouldn't be hard down like this then the ddos protection is not working
[09:11:20] <gromit> nl6720: fixed the group name
[09:19:08] <gromit> Solskogen: I think you should be able to open issues on the repo already
[09:20:47] <gromit> bschnei: I think information about the LSE stuff and such would be very nice to add, when I added the first bullet point in https://gitlab.archlinux.org this is what I thought of
[09:20:48] <phrik> Title: Write documentation for interested contributors (#2) 路 Issues 路 Arch Linux / Ports / AArch64 / project-management 路 GitLab (at gitlab.archlinux.org)
[09:32:33] <nl6720> !give gromit cookie
[09:32:34] <phrik> gromit: nl6720 wanted you to have this cookie. 馃崻
[09:36:35] <Solskogen> gromit: but I want to put stuff there :-) I have a couple of edited PKGBUILDs that I want to put there rather than my own
[09:50:30] <gromit> Solskogen: which repos would you like to see added?
[10:12:12] <Solskogen> I have a special glibc (not very special, but I haven't made a MR yet) and gcc.
[10:12:58] <Solskogen> Archs gcc PKGBUILD is extremly convoluted so I've made one that seems to work fine.
[11:31:16] <nl6720> Solskogen: you're targeting ARMv8.2-A, right?
[11:33:45] <nl6720> anthraxx|M: could you add https://wiki.archlinux.org to the channel topic?
[11:33:46] <phrik> Title: Getting involved - ArchWiki (at wiki.archlinux.org)
[11:35:39] <Solskogen> nl6720: correct
[11:35:50] <Solskogen> nl6720: (and higher)
[11:36:52] <Solskogen> not because I want to, but because some big packages (like chromium and likely firefox) fail with armv8-a.
[11:37:02] <nl6720> what do you think about adding this little table to the aforementioned wiki page: https://bpa.st
[11:37:03] <phrik> Title: View paste VU55GP35NF3HS2Q52YIYVTRVPY (at bpa.st)
[11:38:04] <Solskogen> that would make sense
[11:38:19] <gromit> nl6720: lets wait a bit with that, Solskogen and DrZee are not yet part of staff or anything
[11:38:49] <nl6720> I can omit the "Porters" column
[11:39:30] <Solskogen> gromit: not only that, but I'm not sure I want to either. For the time being I only care about the aarch64 port :-)
[11:39:38] <nl6720> the idea was just to let people know what is currently being attempted
[11:39:57] <gromit> Solskogen: that would already be sufficient
[11:41:09] <nl6720> gromit: gitlab projects can have descriptions, right? maybe you can write something that mentions "ARMv8.2-A and higher" there
[11:42:57] <gromit> nl6720: yes there still is a lot of documentation to be added there
[11:49:10] <nl6720> gromit: my intent wasn't to rush anyone :) I only wanted to curb the expectations of people who may read about the porting attempt
[11:50:14] <gromit> nl6720: so far there is not a fixed arch yet

[12:17:37] <jelle> gromit: is this place going to be announced on arch-dev-public? Suprised it showed up :D
[12:39:43] <gromit> jelle: yes I will write an announcement in a minute, have been busy with the DDoS stuff so far

[14:46:43] -!- nl6720 has joined #archlinux-ports
[16:08:14] <bschnei> gromit: do you want me to create a new issue for the v8 vs v8.2 content?
[16:09:29] <bschnei> If possible, it'd be nice if I can add Solskogen to the issue such that he can add other packages he knows that are problematic.
[16:24:04] <gromit> bschnei: yes please add an issue
[16:24:19] <gromit> bschnei: but I guess we'll need to decide where we want to host the docs anyways
[16:25:39] <bschnei> Will do. I'm just happy to have it at *.archlinu.org instead of github where nobody will find it :)
